Before his Facebook Live, some audiences made jokes about what and how the “Facebook Live” is about. Mr. Zuckerberg’s plan to host a raffle for people to go to space (since some business moguls like Elon Musk have been doing some explorations). He replied candidly that the “live” would not feature such things but rather focus on “Facebook’s” new products.
The reveal is not about his AI-powered Ray Ban smart glasses. Instead, the Oculus Quest 2 VR would be the latest model of virtual reality glasses until the year 2022.
He started the livestream with a cordial greeting before introducing his well-loved 2018 product, his Portals. The Portal, which is supposed to be a leading smart screen device, has been given an update. Other devices such as your smart television and tablets are often used to project screens, but not all can serve as communication tools.
He described a portal as a gateway to collaborate with people on different purposes, personal, education, and work. The aim is to bring families together using an updated version of his product.
These products might look the same as their Apple Product predecessors, such as the Ipad and Ipad Pro.
Portal Go is expected to succeed with an integrated video with a motion sensor to sense movements inside homes. Portal Go is far from being a plain tablet because it is technically designed in line with Facebook Technology which is all about entertainment and socializing.
Updated Facebook Call
Portal users could enrich their call activity with giant flat screens that have their camera and audio set-up. Holding cameras for a group of people is unnecessary. The portable battery can withstand hours of online celebration and information exchange.
Watch Together
Facebook has launched a function that enables people with long-distance gaps to enjoy the same music video or video clippings. The idea is great as it promotes interaction between two or more people. It’s excellent with the Portal devices as the screens are extensive and precise. Moreover, having the same devices provide users with a sense of uniformity which could inhibit the feeling of longingness.
Spotify Friendly
The clear audio of the Portal Go makes it an ideal partner to your Spotify Handle. The device plug-and-play design, high-quality speakers, and AI compatibility make playing music extra special. Aside from Spotify, users could also access I Heart radio. There would be no need to download legacy mp3 files.
Camera for Groupies
The twelve-megapixel camera gives everyone a fair chance to be viewed presentably during group video calls. Portal Go and Portal Plus understand your problem with laptops and computer cameras. You may need to clean your area as the camera has an ultra-wide field angle enough to protect your whole room during video calls.
Encryption
Mark Zuckerberg has been keen on data security – having encrypted facebook messages for a long time. Portal Go and Portal Quest IoT devices are secured now, made even better with the suspicious third party being mitigated. The encryption gives senders and receivers of messages an end-to-end experience. Facebook is unparalleled in terms of security. As annoying as some of the blockages you encounter when viewing explicit content, it is a sign that Facebook is doing its job.
Multiple Device Support
We all know how much Facebook loves updating its platform. The Platform As A Service of Facebook is maximized to the end of its ability. One device can do so much with the Portal. Updating the system to power two or more devices simultaneously could be a fundamental change. Multiple devices could encourage group engagements with games and other applications.
Role-Based Device
What you can see on the device may be the same with other members of your family. Or, you could opt to restrict access to specific applications. For example, you may want to keep your open internet access away from your children. Your children may keep their privacy too by setting their application from their eyes only. The household mode keeps your family on track in terms of the application that matters. Set reminders to your loved ones through the Portal or use it for important emergency contacts that you want your family to remember.
Portal for Business
Small businesses could benefit from the device as it promises a centralized flow of work. The updated device regularly updated to work well with cloud systems could provide a better chance for businesses to thrive. As Mark has mentioned, users can now use their company emails to run through the portal device. Facebook has been developing Facebook Works for employees to be in sync with each other.
Multiple Screens
Like your computers, Portal can now provide users with the chance to switch from calling their boss to showing the Powerpoint Presentations or Excel Sheet Files. This enables people to multitask even if they are working remotely. Hovering over specific files could initiate actions that require intermediate decisions. For example, users could create documents together while brainstorming.
Use the interface while your phone is dead.
Portal Devices are integrated with WhatsApp. Losing battery on calls via the Portal may be unlikely because of its long battery life; however, backup phones are still highly encouraged.
Zoom and other cloud messaging have been enabling access to different devices for group meetings and presentations. Portal is now working with Microsoft Teams to provide seamless service. Zoom is excellent, but Microsoft Teams gives people comfort with the different Microsoft tools compatible with the system. Real-time collaboration has been made possible.
The even greater news is that shipping starts next month. Ordering now could give everyone advance access to a device that is guaranteed multiple updates in the coming years. In addition, the price of the devices is pleasing to the masses at around one hundred ninety-nine dollars for a regular Portal Go and three hundred forty-nine dollars for its fourteen-inch counterpart, the Portal Plus. The device would surely be a great addition to Mark Zuckerberg’s lineup of IoT devices. Portal Go and Portal Quest give potential buyers value for money.
